Derrick Lewis is probably one of the most impressive KO artists that has ever fought in the UFC. Even in fights that he’s losing, you can never count him out, as one punch is really all it takes. His grappling skills leave a lot to be desired, and he’s definitely no longer at his best, but he presents a danger to just about anyone in the heavyweight division, and he’s a great test for a rising prospect.
Tallison Teixeira has had an extremely impressive, albeit short, career so far. In his 8 wins, he’s finished every single opponent in the first round, and recently demolished Justin Tafa in the first minute of his UFC debut. As a result, he’s the MMA odds favourite in this matchup.
The UFC odds for this fight have it pretty much even, with Njokuani given the slight edge. Matthews is the younger of the two and has fewer fights but more experience in the UFC. His record is pretty good, only really losing to top opponents and never going on a losing streak of more than 2 fights. He has great grappling skills and a decent number of submission wins.
Njokuani has the slight edge according to the sportsbooks, likely because he’s won his last 3 fights and stopped his last opponent. Of the two, he probably has the weaker record overall, although he looked very promising when he first came to the UFC.
